Sùng Hưng Cổ Tự

The oldest pagoda in Dương Đông, tucked off Trần Hưng Đạo in the middle of town and easy to miss. Behind a modest gate is a calm, tree-shaded courtyard with a traditional main hall, Buddha statues and the quiet of a working temple in the middle of a busy street. It won't take more than fifteen minutes, but it's a genuine, free stop that predates all the resorts. Dress modestly, take your shoes off where asked, and keep it low-key if anyone's praying. A peaceful pause a short walk from the markets and Long Beach.
