One of the oldest settlements on Phu Quoc, Ham Ninh sits on the east coast about 20km from Duong Dong and feels entirely different from the resort west side of the island — stilt houses over the water, wooden fishing boats along the pier, and small seafood restaurants serving what was pulled in that morning. Entry is free. The crab claws and mantis shrimp are the things to order here; eat at the smaller family restaurants past the pier entrance rather than the organised tour tables at the front. Go early morning or late afternoon for better light and fewer tour groups.
